Leading/innovation companies have their board sitting in the 'lab', looking at competition and dynamics of the marketplace, giving awesome direct presentation, drawing-discussing-designing-and-strategizing on the board, making things happen.
Giant yet slow-down companies have their board sitting in their 'bored room', looking at their 'sacred' spreadsheet and numbers, hoping their quarterly numbers will happen .. eventually.
Nobody believes that Microsoft had an 'innovation' problem. I happened to say it since a few year back, most people (naturally) won't believe it, ... yet Microsoft indeed seem have a deep big innovation problem.
While Mr. Ball*** keep busy 'pooh pooh' ing the competitor at the outfront, the key fact remain: Microsoft innovation stalled, and no Ballmeristic bombastic 'statement' can hide that. Within the past few years Microsoft product become lame, it's innovation becomes lauzy.
Bill Gates might know that unless Microsoft react fast, the internet innovation and significant development might make Microsoft obsolete. Hence perhaps where the Ray Ozzie presence becomes important.
But the key question remain: could Ray Ozzie save the 'boat' ? He's no Bill Gates after all.
I sincerely still believe Bill Gates needs to be back.

I seriously wonder how O2 brand could suddenly becoming less relevant in the marketplace, and its product offering dies out increasingly.
While in the past, people 'dream' and 'queue' to buy the product -- at whatever 'ridiculous price' that O2 offer, today it doesn't seem so. O2 product no longer resonate greatly the way it used to be. Its brand dies out.
This time Blackberry takes over.
Is it happening because HTC halted O2 product innovation cycle? Or is it happening because O2 product has lost its innovation mojo?
Seems brand-relevance dies eventually, once its innovation halted.
Key lesson learned, is perhaps, that: Branding, selling and marketing matters. Yet innovation matters even more!

My first experience with Meizu product happened around 2 years ago. At that time, they still produced an 'iPod' like MP3 player, with the following twist:
- It is almost perfectly resembling an 'iPod'.
- Yet even thinner.
- In some aspects even more complete/powerful.
- And the price is unbelievably competitive too!
Would be intriguing to see what they come up with this time, and how they plan to proceed next, with this M8 product.

If people still don't "get" the significant & strategic value of open-source, then I seriously "wonder". :-)
This device does only one thing: email, and nothing more.
At $79.95 price tag, it's pretty amazing concept. But I still wonder: why not adding browsing, and chatting as well? Is email just a start of it all??
After all, these "three must-keteers" (Mail, Browsing, Chatting) -- I believe -- is a minimum "must" for connected people around the globe these days -- whether they are 'hardcore gadgeteers' ... or simpler casual 'connected' user.

Imagine this: Hollywood, TV Station or University Lecturer just released their new video, and we -- movie goers, TV watchers, and online students around the globe -- can immediately live stream the program through our TV and watch it in 'real time'.
Such would be imaginatively awesome!
The most amazing thing is: people said that Nextflix is not that far from making such happen, ... very very soon.
What a fascinating digital world we live in!
I seriously wonder why Palm is not making the 'modern' version of this device.
This is almost a perfect 'tablet' device we ever had. It's sleek, it's thin, it's pocketable, it's portable.
Even
iPhone-- in many ways -- resembles what this device (once) had! -- in
its design, simplicity, sleekness, hardware elegance, and software
standout!
Perhaps palm just need to make it work 'like a
piece of paper' even more, incorporate it's 'handspring-root' too make
it phone-enable, and forget those cluncky complicated Windows Mobile
interface all out! ...
Then we got our 'perfect palm' handheld (or 'tablet' ??) back.
Imagine what'd be possible to be done once this kind of tablet device appear in the marketplace:
- Presentation could be done fully persuasive and interactive -- we can draw on our slides, no longer just 'stare' on it. :-)
- Jot down on a note or on a glimpse of idea is a snap! -- no separate (physical) paper is required.
- Everything can be annotated -- which enable people to discuss, share and interact around digital document or digital files even more intuitive and even better than before.
Even better, on top of all these potential:
- Sharing is a snap
- and less and less paper-to-digital-document-conversion is required!
Of course, before we can do all that, we would like to have all that features again without the sluggish performance nor the 'hang' features that 'previous' Windows Tablet PC provides.
Without those 'annoyances' tablet device is actually extremely superbly useful, powerful and practical.
More: if the the annoying physical keyboard could be removed removed, and the thickness of the screen could be made super thin (e.g. the way the Macbook Air does), the we would surely had something truly excellent in our hand.
These are our 'hopes', 'expectation' and 'dreams' for now. We'll see how next Tablet device's real form factor would be.
