This is what iPhone+AT&T can't do -- Sprint says ... Pretty logical and intriguing advertising. But -- in my personal view -- probably not exactly so smart.
I wonder why Sprint has to 'attack the Apple market?'. Apple's strong iPhone OS and massive number of beautiful application makes Apple totally difficult object to penetrate nor attack. Beside that: Apple iPhone is definitely the innovation leader -- as strong as Palm WebOS strength today.
On the contrary, the Blackberry market seem relatively more possible to snap. Blackberry's current OS is definitely totally so-so, their Storm proposition and its implementation is relatively still awful (as of today), yet at the sametime the Blackberry market is huge -- hence opening possibility for future avalanche to happen (once the initial seed is successful).
I seriously wonder why Sprint has to attack Apple. In my view, the better, larger, (and perhaps relatively 'easier') target is definitely Blackberry.
Michael Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50. He's a genius, a true talent, and truly one of the greatest performers of our time. His singing, voices, dancing, greatest stage-act and video-act performances are consistently fresh, original, inspiring, inovative, pioneering, groundbreaking and legendary.
Michael Jackson started in the music business at the age of 11 with his brothers as a member of the Jackson 5. In the early 1980s, he defined the art form of music video with such ground-breaking videos as Billie Jean, Beat It and the epic Thriller. Jacksons sound, style and dance moves inspired subsequent generations of pop, soul, R&B and hip-hop artists.
Michael Jackson wonderfully put his marks on the texture and style of world's music, musical act, dance and performance during his time and for many many years to come. For all that, the world love and adore him so much.
This is a rememberance to some of his best moonwalk dances, beautiful singings, pioneering video-clip innovations, Jackson 5 roots, and wonderful black-or-white performances:
Apple iPhone momentum keep rising. In long term it would be interesting to see what happen with Palm Pre also (report says that while Palm Pre's momentum today is of course not yet as huge as Apple iPhone, it keep running and growing steady as well!). Seems again and again the market proves that great innovation really works in a great way!
Would be curious also to see how these two great OS and phones would affect RIM Blackberry's (and WinMobile's) market in the long run!
What a great difference made in the past 6 months. Palm who was totally vulnerable 6 months ago, seems start showing early sign of recovery. Seems again and again: great innovation works!
In the past, great innovation survived and revitalized Apple. It brought Apple back to its respected stature. Now great innovation work seem might survive Palm and bring it back too.
While detail of things remain to be seen, the idea of seeing Palm back would be wonderful. Palm is perhaps one of the great exciting company of our era; the iconic company in the class of Sony and Apple. To see it comeback to its desirable stature would be truly wonderful.
... and if Virgin Mobile Australia also adopting this, then it would even be more interesting! Virgin Mobile -- the 'Richard Branson' company -- is always known for its creative juice of cool ideas, and continuous stream of groundbreaking innovation.
There's no timeline information available yet, about exactly when Palm Pre will arrive in Australia. But coders and hackers that 'deep dive' into the Palm's ROM discover that Optus and Telstra name is listed inside the ROM; hence giving birth to the justifiable 'speculation'.
Rumors said that Palm Pre will become available in Europe by the end Of September 2009. No specific information available to which country it will arrive in first; nor the pricing scheme that would be applied.
If the Pre indeed arrive in Europe by that timeframe; this means the GSM version of the device would soon be available too. No longer the device being 'isolated' in CDMA network only. This would be a great and exciting development.
A couple of weeks ago Facebook announced that every Facebook-user now can have their own user-name and unique internet addresss. Such feature could be useful. For example: if Arvino's facebook user-name is arvino, then now he will be able to tell his friends and colleagues to visit him for more info at 'http://faceboook.com/arvino'.
While today this feature seem like a 'small enhancement' to the bigger Facebook system, I feel such 'small gesture' could bring greater (and far more strategic) impact for Facebook and to the 'web 2.0' as a whole, in the near future.
By enabling every user to have a username (and to have their own facebook-address) -- e.g: 'http://facebook.com/username" -- essentially Facebook enabling itself to become a 'unified platform' and 'universal address' for:
Private sharing among 'closed circle' of friends and colleagues.
Public sharing with 'everybody' around the globe.
Everything related with particular person's "social-networking" + "web 2.0" related activity now can be served through Facebook as the platform.
With this scenario in mind: one day, people might register and create their http://facebook.com/username addreess, and then use it for multiple purposes:
They can use it as medium for private sharing with closed circle of friends and colleagues -- just the way people use their Facebook does today.
Yet beyond that: it could also become the address for people's web 2.0 stuff and activity: blog, 'flickr', wiki, etc as well!!!
Facebook might eventually expand its presence beyond the "social networking" space, and into the greater "web 2.0" landscape as well! Such transition could be strategic. It could make facebook.com to become the 'universal address' for "everything social & web 2.0 related", similar to the way Google become the 'universal standard' for everything "search" related!
We'll see how Facebook leverage this 'new user-id' feature in the coming future. My sense: if done right, this one "small" individual address scheme could one day bring giant leap for the Web 2.0 ecosystem as a whole!
