Yesterday I tried Skype on my iPad 2. The video quality seems not the highest as I expected to be, and the initial connectivity "setup" is not (yet) as smooth as I would like it to be (I had to dial in to Skype my iPad first, and only then Skype on my iPad can dial out to the caller, etc). But overall, once everything is initialized and connected properly, the possibility and experience that it brings is indeed amazing!
I have been a Skype "fans" and user for many years. I have been using it on various desktop; I have experienced seeing it becoming so "portable" through various Laptops, and -- the past few years -- on my "ultra portable" MacBookAir too.
But seeing it becoming "extremely portable" through the iPad (which increasingly becoming my "portable working computer" that goes with me "almost everywhere") and yet seeing it still so accessible across various platform and devices -- Mac and PCs (and soon TVs?) -- bring an entirely new meaning to what Skype is, and what it could be in the very near future.
Skype -- I think -- is definitely a piece of technology that will define, and strongly influence how we connect and interact without boundary today, and in the near future. Truly amazing innovation; Awesome technology indeed.
Go Skype go!
